THE COUNTESS OF WESSEX MET WITH STAFF OF CHILDLINE

Sophie, Countess of Wessex continues her volunteering work amid the pandemic. The Countess met with staff of Childline, a counselling service for children and young people up to their 19th birthday provided by the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty Children (NSPCC).

The meeting took place at NSPCC’s headquarters in London on June 17, 2020.

Sophie of Wessex thanks staff and volunteers for their work supporting vulnerable children since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Countess also saw first-hand the work of the Volunteer Counsellors by joining a counselling shift.

Volunteers and staff, who are recognised as critical workers, have helped deliver over 2,000 counselling sessions a week since the outbreak to children concerned about their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

NSPCC is a charity campaigning and working in child protection in the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands.

The Countess of Wessex has been patron of the NSPCC since taking over from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2016.
