SWEDISH ROYAL FAMILY AT STOCKHOLM WORLD WATER WEEK 2019

The Swedish Royals attended several events hosted and organized by Stockholm International Water Institute, SIWI, for the World Water Week 2019, an annual global event for addressing the planet’s water issues and related concerns of international development.

World Water Week 2019 take place 25-30 August, with the theme “Water for society – including all”.

CROWN PRINCESS VICTORIA PRESENTED STOCKHOLM JUNIOR WATER PRIZE

On 27, August 2019, Crown Princess Victoria attended the ceremony for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize at the Berns Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. The Crown Princess is the Patron of the prize.

The international Stockholm Junior Water Prize is a competition that encourages young people’s interest in water and environment issues. The winner receives a USD 15,000 scholarship and a blue crystal sculpture.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria Attended Symposium and Exhibition

On August 28, 2019 King Carl XVI Gustaf and daughter Crown Princess Victoria attended Princess attended a symposium on the theme “Finding the flow”. There, six researchers and experts lectured on how human intervention in natural waters has increased rapidly over the past millennium, and how it affects the future at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. King Carl XVI Gustaf Presented the Stockholm Water Prize 2019

On 28 August 2019, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended the World Water Week’s Banquet and awards ceremony in Stockholm City Hall.

Dr Jackie King received the 2019 Stockholm Water Prize for the game-changing contributions to global river management. The prize was presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf.

During the evening the King gave a speech:

“The Stockholm Water Prize is an important part of World Water Week. It is an opportunity to honor outstanding water-related achievements, and to raise awareness about the sustainable use and protection of the world’s water resources.

“Who gets what water? When? And how? This is, in essence, a matter of justice – and of great urgency. “
