Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip, Duchess and Duke of Värmland, visited Värmland County (Swedish: Värmlans Iän) in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.
During autumn 2020 and spring 2021 members of the Swedish Royal family, at the initiative of King Carl XVI Gustaf, will visit all of Sweden’s 21 counties to show support for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and draw attention to local initiatives.
Sofia and Carl Philip did many activities in several places such as the Central Hospital in Karlstad, Viken church, Karlstad Innovation Park, Restaurant and Vineyard Kulinarika in Sunne, Berättarladan and Västanå Theater.
Central Hospital in Karlstad (Swedish: Centralsjukhuset i Karlstad)
First, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip visited the Central Hospital in Karlstad (Swedish: Centralsjukhuset i Karlstad), where they met with healthcare professionals to hear how the pandemic has affected healthcare in the county.
Carl Philip and Sofia heard about the steps that the medical community has taken to combat the coronavirus.

Karlstad Innovation Park
Next, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia toured Karlstad Innovation Park to meet with young entrepreneurs who have created a digital platform, Zimify, to curb loneliness in students.
The couple also met with representatives from Ineq Solutions, who have created Buhobox, a “digital tool that will promote preventive work with student health in school”.

Kulinarika in Västra Ämtervik
After that, they travelled to Västra Ämtervik a locality in the Municipality of Sunne, where they dined at Kulinarika, a restaurant and vineyard. Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip heard how the pandemic has affected the company and food production and met with other representatives from the municipality.
At Kulinarika, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia helped with the production of apple juice.
Berättarladan and Västanå Theatre
Finally, the couple visited Berättarladan, where they met with representatives from the Västanå Theatre. They learned how the pandemic has affected the arts community and were treated to a performance of “O, children of late times” (Swedish: “O, sena tiders barn”).
