MONACO TWINS, QUEEN SOFIA AND WESSEX FAMILY TOOK PART IN WORLD CLEANUP DAY

During this weekend, a number of members Royal Families – Prince Albert, Prince Jacques, Princess Gabriella, Queen Sofia of Spain, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor and James Viscount Severn – took part in several events related to World Cleanup Day (WCD).

World Cleanup Day is an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris. It is celebrated with litter cleanup and waste mapping activities.

Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco

Prince Albert II accompanied by Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella participated in the 2nd edition of World Cleanup Day in the Principality of Monaco on Saturday, September 19.

This event is organized at the initiative of Mr. Sébastien Uscher (Association Stand Up for the Planet) in partnership with the City Hall of Monaco, Decathlon Monaco, Mission for the Energy Transition of the Princely Government, Monegasque Sanitation Society and the Eco-Angels (Stars N ‘ Bars) with the aim of waste collection and public awareness.

Four cleaning actions were carried out in the Principality and surrounding municipalities, which yielded 210 kilos of waste.

Queen Sofia of Spain

Queen Sofia took part on a beach cleaning with several volunteers as part of the LIBERA Project’s “1m2 for beaches and seas” campaign on September 19, 2020 in Rincon de La Victoria, a municipality in the province of Málaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain.

The project “LIBERA, nature without litter”, was born in 2017 to restrain the consequences of the ‘basuraleza’, that is, litter left on natural spaces, in this case on different Spanish ecosystems.

The Wessex Family Participated in Great British Beach Clean

The Earl and Countess of Wessex with their children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn visited the Southsea Beach to take part in the Great British Beach Clean on September 20, 2020 in Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

The family joined Southsea Beachwatch volunteers litter-picking and recording items found for a beach survey.

The Great British Beach Clean is run annually by the Marine Conservation Society. This year, people are encouraged to run their own small, local beach clean with friends, family or ‘bubbles’, in line with current Government guidelines.
