Crown Princess Mary Met with the Board of Mary Fonden

Crown Princess Mary participated in a meeting with members of the board of Mary Fonden (English: The Mary Foundation) at the headquarters of the Foundation on August 20, 2020.

At the meeting, The Crown Princess and attendees discussed alternatives of holding events, which bring together people physically, without compromising on health precautions.

Mary of Denmark shared the next message:

“What do we do when the corona restricts us from so much of what we want? That question we, like so many others, are faced with regularly at this time.

Today we have gathered together in the Mary Foundation’s secretariat – with distance (and no handshake 😊) – to talk about alternatives.

At the Mary Foundation, we work to combat social isolation – paradoxically, at a time when social isolation is on everyone’s lips and where staying away from communities serves a greater purpose. But it is important to separate social distance and physical distance.

We must not distance ourselves socially, we must still be close to each other, even if we are physically limited. Because we all still need to feel that we belong.

When several of our events that physically bring people together are not possible, we must think creatively today and into the future so that that part of our work can continue without compromising our joint health. Among other things, we have recently done with the campaign “Få øje på ensomhed”.

And fortunately, our projects in schools, day care centers, hospitals, shelters and after-school centers continue, and we – like the rest of Denmark – continue to put our heads down to find alternatives to everything we can not right now.”

The inauguration marks the end of the conversion, which means that the plant’s new Unit 6 can now supply electricity and heat without burning fossil fuels, as production has been converted to burning residual wood from sustainable forestry.

Frederik was also asked about his brother, Prince Joachim: “My brother has had a very serious experience, but he has escaped from it very well due to a quick response at the time”.
