ROYAL BRIDE: DUCHESS SOPHIE OF WÜRTTEMBERG

Sophie Anastasia Assunta Marie Pauline of Württemberg was born 15 January 1994 in Munich, Germany as the daughter of Duke Philipp Albrecht Christoph Ulrich Maria of Württemberg and Princess Marie-Caroline Hedwig Eleonore of Bavaria.

Through her paternal grandfather Carl, Duke of Württemberg (born 1936) Sophie is a descendant of the former royal family of the Kingdom of Württemberg near Bavaria.

Sophie is also related to the Orléanist claimant to the French throne, Prince Henri, Count of Paris (1908-1999), who was the father of her grandmother Diane, Duchess of Württemberg (née Princess Diane Francoise Maria da Gloria d’Orleans in 1940).

Sophie’s maternal grandparents are Max-Emanuel Ludwig Maria Herzog in Bayern (sometimes styled Prince Max of Bavaria, Duke in Bavaria) and Duchess Elisabeth of Bavaria (née Swedish Countess Elisabeth Douglas).

On 20 October 2018, Duchess Sophie of Württemberg married French Count Maximilien d’Andigné, son of Count Hervé d’Andigné and Marie-Adélaïde de la Barre de Nanteuil.

The wedding took place at the Parish Church of St. Quirinus in Tegernsee, a town in the Miesbach district of Bavaria, Germany, on the shore of Lake Tegernsee.

For her wedding day, the bride chose to wear a custom wedding gown with the family tiara and an heirloom lace veil.



In the evening, the couple celebrated their wedding ball at the Schloss Tegernsee (Tegernsee Castle).
