QUEEN MAXIMA AND KING WILLEM-ALEXANDER ATTENDED REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY

Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam. Traditionally, Remembrance Day or Remembrance of the Dead (Dutch: Dodenherdenking) is held annually on May 4 in the Netherlands.

The ceremony is usually attended by members of Dutch Royal Family, the cabinet and the military leaders, representatives of the resistance movement and other social groups. At 20:00 two minutes of silence is observed throughout the Netherlands.

Remembrance Day commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War.

Queen Máxima wore black long cape, black dress from Massimo Dutti, layered felt turban, and suede and leather pumps. For jewelery, The Queen opted for a diamond brooch in the shape of a half moon, with a pearl as a pendant and pearl studs earrings.
