QUEEN LETIZIA WORE DRIES VAN NOTEN FOR FRANCISCO CERECEDO AWARD

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain (stunning wearing Dries van Noten) presided over the 36th ‘Francisco Cerecedo’ Award at The Westin Palace Madrid (Spanish: Hotel Palace) on November 28, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.



The Francisco Cerecedo Award is given by the Association of European Journalists (APE) in Spain to reward those people who have distinguished themselves especially for their journalistic or dissemination work and avoid the pressure of powers audiences in defense of freedom of expression.

The award is named after the Galician journalist Francisco Cerecedo, who died in 1977.

This year, writer and columnist Javier Cercas became the awardee of ‘Francisco Cerecedo’ Prize.

The “Francisco Cerecedo” is awarded each year with the sponsorship of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A., – better known by its initialism BBVA- by a jury created by the Association of European Journalists.

King Felipe VI delivered a speech:

“As the honorary president of the Association of European Journalists, I want to encourage all who integrate it to always defend the best journalism, which is committed to defending the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution and with the European dimension of our being and our values , but also of our interests and objectives … ”

Javier Cercas (born 1962) gave a speech during the event. He is a writer and professor of Spanish literature at the University of Girona, Spain and a frequent contributor to the Catalan edition of El País and the Sunday supplement.

Queen Letizia wore a new Embellished Floral-Jacquard Midi Dress by Belgian fashion designer Dries Van Noten and Black and Gold Sandals from Magrit.

The Queen carried a bespoke version of Magrit’s Alice Clutch in black and golden. For accessories she opted for her Helena Nicolau Almond Flower Earrings in Gold and her Karen Hallam Signature Ring.
