QUEEN ELIZABETH II STATE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT 2019

On October 14, 2019, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II officially opened a new session of United Kingdom Parliament in a ceremony that display British pomp and circumstance.

The Queen traveled by carriage in the lavish Diamond Jubilee State Coach, from Buckingham Palace to the Chamber of the House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster for the Opening of Parliament.

Her Majesty was accompanied by her son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Imperial State Crown and the Cap of Maintenance traveled to the Palace of Westminster in Queen Alexandra’s State Coach.

The monarch did not wear the heavy Imperial Crown during the ceremony, she instead wore the lighter George IV diadem, which dates back to 1821.

The Queen officially opened Parliament by addressing the House of Commons and House of Lords, in The Queen’s Speech.

The Speech is not drafted by The Queen, but by the Government, outlining policies and proposed future legislation.

For the ceremony Her Majesty wore white dress with embroidered details, Queen Mary’s Cluster Earrings, the grand Coronation Necklace, and the grand collar of the Order of the Garter.
