On 9 November 2019, Princess Charlene of Monaco travelled to the Isola del Gran Sasso d’Italia, a town and comune in province of Teramo in the Abruzzo region of southern Italy to reopen Parrozzani Primary School destroyed during an earthquake on November 9, 2016.
The reconstruction of the Parrozzani Primary School, which will host 200 students, was carried out thanks to the Italian Red Cross with the support of the Monegasque Red Cross and private partners.
The Princess of Monaco wore grey Louis Vuitton, black dress and black pumps.
Princess Charlene was welcomed with a posy of flowers.
The children from the school warmly welcomed Princess Charlene with white and red balloons.
The Monegasque and Italian Red Cross have been working closely together for more than 30 years. The Monegasque Red Cross also actively supported its Italian colleague during the L’Aquila earthquake in 2009 by helping rebuild a village.
Princess Charlene cut the ribbon as she officially re-open Parrozzani Primary School.
On the occasion of this day, Princess Charlene was honored for her commitment in the actions of the Red Cross by receiving the gold medal of the Italian Red Cross, distinction awarded by Rosario Maria Gianluca Valestro, Vice President of the Red Cross.
The Princess visited the new building of 1000 m2 and its infrastructures accompanied by the authorities and children from the commune.
