
NEW OFFICIAL PORTRAIT OF QUEEN MARGRETHE OF DENMARK
Danish Royal House has released a new official portrait of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark to mark her 80th birthday.
The photo was taken during the summer of 2020 by Per Morten Abrahamsen, one of the most prominent photographers in Denmark.
Queen Margrethe celebrated her 80th birthday on 16 April with small events due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For the new portrait, Queen Margrethe wore a blue gown with the Pearl Poiré set Pearl that features a tiara, a pair of earrings, necklace and a brooch with diamonds.
The portrait was taken at the Dome Hall at Fredensborg Palace (Danish: Fredensborg Slot) in Fredensborg on the island of Zealand, Denmark.
The set has over time carried several official gala portraits.

The first official portrait of Queen Margrethe in 1972, in which Her Majesty wore a diadem, necklace and earrings from the Pearl Poiré set.

Queen Margrethe also wore the Pear Poiré Set during a state dinner with Their Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at The Imperial Palace in 2004 on occasion of the Danish State Visit to Japan.
