NEW PHOTOS TO MARK THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF KING HARALD’S ACCESSION TO THE THRONE

The Royal House of Norway has shared new photos to mark the 30th anniversary of King Harald and Queen Sonja‘s accession to the throne.

Harald become a King on 17 January 1991 after the death of his father King Olav V. He became the first Norwegian- born monarch since Magnus VII abdicated in 1343.

The reign of King Harald has been marked by modernization and reform for the Norwegian Royal Family.

On occasion of their 30th anniversary as King and Queen of Norway, Their Majesties shared the following message:

“On 17 January, we have been the King and Queen of Norway for 30 years. We are so very thankful to have shared these years with you.

We have been able to follow Norway and the Norwegian people through an exciting time of development and transition.”
