METTE-MARIT AND HAAKON VISITED COUNTIES IN NORWAY

Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon visited six counties of Norway to meet with different people and hear about experiences they have had during the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to her health condition, Crown Princess Mette-Marit has only been able to join Crown Prince Haakon on selected portions of the tour.

Kristiansund and Allanengen Primary School

On September 15, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess started the tour in Kristiansund, where they visited Allanengen Primary School.

At Allanengen Primary School, The Crown Prince Couple learned about what all schools and students have experienced in the last six months – with home school to begin with, and now strict infection control measures.

Norway’s educational institutions have been strongly affected by the corona pandemic. The program also included a meeting with students and principals in the new Student House.

They also visited Festiviteten Culture House, where they were greeted by children performing Bjelleklang’s “Rubber Hat”.



Florø in Vestland County

On September 16, The Crown Prince and Crown Princess visited Florø in Vestland County to heard about how volunteering has been experienced over the past six months. ⁣

They met with a wide range of people involved in handball, football, local politics, games and hiking teams, discussing the challenges they faced during lockdown.

Stavanger in Rogaland County

On September 17, 2020, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited Stavanger in Rogaland County for the last stop of the tour.

Crown Prince Haakon held a meeting with representatives of the Trade Association. ⁣⁣

Crown Princess Mette-Marit joined Crown Prince Haakon for the second part of the day. The couple visited Equinor ASA – formerly Statoil – which is Rogaland’s largest and most important employer, and operator of around 60 per cent of all production on the Norwegian shelf.
