MAXIMA AND WILLEM-ALEXANDER STATE VISIT TO INDIA – DAY 4

Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander are paying a state visit to India at the invitation of President Ram Nath Kovind. The visit is taking place from 14 to 18 October, and include the cities of New Delhi, Mumbai and the state of Kerala.

Thursday 17 October – the State of Kerala

State of Kerala

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima travelled from Mumbai to the State of Kerala on the southwestern Malabar Coast of India.

Their Majesties received a warm welcome at Cochin International Airport.

Visit to The Mattancherry Palace

In the afternoon Their Majesties visited The Mattancherry Palace a Portuguese palace popularly known as the Dutch Palace, in the locality of Mattancherry near the city of Kochi.

Queen Maxima wore a dress by Jan Taminiau and hat from Fabienne Delvigne.

During the visit to the Palace-Museum, Indian and Dutch cultural heritage specialists gave a presentation about the relations between Kerala and the Netherlands in the past, present and future.

The King and Queen also toured the museum and attended the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Dutch National Archives and the Kerala State Archives Department.

Visit to Nedspice

After that, Their Majesties visited Nedspice, a Food processing company in Kochi, that specialised in sustainable agriculture.

Nedspice hosted a roundtable discussion on Climate Resilient Agriculture and how the sector contributes to four Sustainable Development Goals; Zero Hunger, Good Health & Well beginning, Clean water & Sanitation and Decent Work & Economic Growth.



Dinner at The Rice Boat Restaurant  

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima ended the day with a dinner hosted by Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of the State Kerala at The Rice Boat Restaurant, Taj Malabar Resort & Spa, Willingdon Island, Kochi, Kerala.

The Queen wore green saree with sandals from Aquazzura.

The Queen also wore stunning emerald jewels.
