PRINCESS MARIE AND PRINCE JOACHIM RETURN TO LIVE IN PARIS

Princess Marie and Prince Joachim of Denmark, youngest son of Queen Margrethe II, have returned to live in Paris, France.

Since July, the royal couple and children Prince Henrik and Princess Athena were living at the Château de Cayx, whence Joachim was taken by ambulance to Toulouse University Hospital (CHU-Toulouse) due to a blood clot in his brain on July 25.

Prince Joachim had successful emergency surgery. The Prince was due to take up the post as Denmark’s Military Attaché in Paris, France on 1 September, but it was postponed to allow him more time to recover.

Let’s take a look at the latest royal engagements of the couple in Paris.

Prince Joachim Started New Job

On September 18, Prince Joachim started his new job as Denmark’s military attaché at the Danish Embassy in Paris, France.

A Defense Attaché is part of the Danish diplomatic corps abroad. An attaché is the contact person between Denmark and the place to which the attaché has been sent.

Upon his arrival, Prince Joachim told the Danish press, that he is feeling fine following his blood clot and brain surgery. The Prince said:

“This is something I have been looking forward to immensely. Not least after this summer, which one might call a “non-summer” in my case.”

Prince Joachim has recently completed France’s highest ranking military leadership training. He was the first Danish officer to participate in this training.

Princess Marie Opened the Exhibition “The Golden Age of Danish Painting”

On 18 September, Princess Marie opened the art exhibition “The Golden Age of Danish Painting” (French: L’Âge d’or de la peinture danoise) at the Petit Palais (English: Small Palace), an art museum in Paris, France.

At the exhibition “The Golden Age of Danish Painting”, more than 200 works by Denmark’s leading artists in the period from 1801 to 1864 are being displayed.

Princess Marie wore a Giambattista Valli dress, Saint Laurent bag and Jimmy Choo pumps.

Tidligere i år åbnede Hendes Kongelige Højhed udstillingen ”Les Contes Étranges de N.H. Jacobsen, un Danois à Paris” med værker af billedhugger Niels Hansen Jacobsen på Musée Bourdelle i Paris.

The exhibition has been created in collaboration with the ‘Statens Museum for Kunst’ in Copenhagen and the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm. The exhibition is open to the public from 22 September 2020 to 3 January 2021.
