QUEEN LETIZIA AND KING FELIPE INAUGURATE THE NEW BUILDING OF THE HELGA DE ALVEAR MUSEUM

Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI of Spain inaugurated the new building of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Helga de Alvear Foundation on February 25, 2021 in Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain. The new building was designed by architect Emilio Tuñón.

Helga de Alvear is a German art collector. At the present time her Collection includes more than 3 000 pieces by Spanish and international artists. The gallery owner has donated her collection to the museum.

The mission of the Collection is also to contribute to public awareness about art and it often loans out works to institutions around the world.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia toured the new building with Helga de Alvear, Minister of Culture and Sport Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes and Architect Emilio Tuñon.

The exhibition offers the opportunity to explore large-scale sculptures and installations, paintings, photographs, drawings and video installations by more than 100 different artists from 26 countries.

The Queen of Spain wore White Felipe Varela Tweed Dress, Black Manolo Blahnik Snakeskin Pumps, Nina Ricci Marche Chain Shoulder Bag, Gold Bamboo Hoop Earrings and Karen Hallam Signature Ring.
