
KING JIGME AND FAMILY VISITED THE DE-SUUNG CLUBHOUSE
On 21 February, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema and His Royal Highness The Gyalsey, visited the De-suung Clubhouse to meet with De-suup Phub Gyem and De-suup Dechen Tshomo.
The De-suups (English: Guardians of Peace and Harmony) were privileged to receive His Majesty King Jigme on the anniversary on his birth. The King was celebrating his 41st birthday.
Their Majesties and HRH Gyalsey with Desuup Dechen Tshomo, who also sustained severe injuries in the accident. Desuup Dechen Tshomo has rejoined Desuung duty.

King Jigme personally granted De-suup Phub Gyem her De-suung Pins for Druk Thuksey and Service during COVID-19.
De-suup Phub Gyem is recovering after having sustained life-threatening injuries last September, when a pick-up truck hit her and De-suup Dechen Tshomo while they were on duty.
Both De-suups were sent to Delhi for treatment on Royal Command. De-suup Dechen returned home after her treatment in October last year, and De-suup Phub Gyem returned home in January 2021, after a series of successful surgeries.
His Majesty expressed confidence that Desuup Phub Gyem will make a complete recovery. In this image, she is surrounded by her family.

His Majesty told Phub Gyem that she is a true fighter. Phub Gyem was critically injured and on life support, but after a series of surgeries, she is recovering steadily.

Granting the pins, His Majesty The King said to De-suup Phub Gyem that she has been exceptionally brave and resilient- a true fighter. His Majesty expressed the confidence that she will make a complete recovery. She is receiving physiotherapy treatment to regain full control of her motor abilities.
