KING FELIPE AND QUEEN LETIZIA VISITED SOUTH KOREA

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain are currentthy in an official visit to South Korea for two days to discuss bilateral cooperation in sectors including economy and trade.



Arrive at The  Seoul Military Air Base in the South Korea

On October 23, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived at the Seoul Military Air Base in South Korea.

Their Majesties travelled from Japan, where they attended the Enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were welcomed by Park Yang-Woo, Minsiter of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), Chun Hong Jo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Spain, Ignacio Morro, Ambassador of Spain in the Republic of Korea, among other authorities.

Their Majesties were received with a red carpet lined with soldiers.

Queen Letizia looked elegant in white mid length dress from Hugo Boss, black blazer over her shoulders, bold buckle belt and Carolina Herrera Slingback Pumps in Black Suede.

Visit to Seoul National Cemetery

After that, King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited Seoul National Cemetery, where they laid flowers at the Memorial Monument, which honours soldiers who lost their lives in the Korean independence movement, Korean War, and Vietnam War.

As signal of respect, Their Majesties wore white gloves as they walked through the cemetery.

Then King Felipe and Queen Letizia burned incense and kept a minute of silence before signing the cemetery’s book of honor.

Queen Letizia changed her outfit for the visit to the cemetery. She donned a mid length dark blue dress with a bold floral print from Carolina Herrera and her Nina Ricci pumps.

Meeting with South Korean President and First Lady

Later, Their Majesties were officially welcomed by South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his wife First Lady Kim Jung-sook at The Blue House (Cheong Wa Dae).

During the welcome ceremony the National Anthems of the two countries were interpreted and King Felipe together with the Korean President, reviewed the troops.

Afterwards, His Majesty the King held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in, and attended the signing ceremony of two agreements, one on tourism – more than 440,000 South Koreans visited Spain in 2018.

The second agreement was signed by ICEX Spain Export and Investment, and KOTRA, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty The Queen held a meeting with the First Lady of South Korea, Kim Jung-sook.



Meeting with the former Secretary General of the United Nations

King Felipe went to the Four Seasons Hotel, where he held a meeting with the former Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon.

During the meeting His Majesty the King was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and the Ambassador of Spain in the Republic of Korea.



Official Dinner at The Blue House

In the evening, The King and Queen attended a dinner in Seoul hosted by President Moon Jae-in and First Lady Kim Jung-sook at the Blue House.

Spanish’s Queen Letizia looked stunning in a gorgeous gown by British designer Alice Temperley “Finale Dress” and Manolo Blahnik Slingback Pumps.

At the dinner King Felipe VI delivered a speech

“We are also today societies in which the rule of law, democracy and the division of powers are an indisputable reality. And it is these shared values ​​that allow us to look to the immediate future, facing and understanding from similar perspectives the opportunities and challenges that are presented to us”.
