
KING FELIPE AND QUEEN LETIZIA ROYAL VISIT CUBA DAY 2

In the morning, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited “El Templete” of the Plaza de Armas in Old Havana. They received an explanation by Havana City Historian, Eusebio Leal.

The monument was built in 1827 by the engineer Antonio María de la Torre and is located next to the Plaza de Armas. Declared a World Heritage Site, remember the site where the first Mass celebrated in Havana in 1519 took place. There, a bust of Christopher Columbus stands out.
Next, Their Majesties went to the “Palacio de los Capitanes Generales” (Captain General Palace) – currently, this 18th-century Baroque building houses the City Museum.

After the visit to the Palace, King Felipe delivered the Great Cross of Carlos III to Mr. Eusebio Leal, Havana City Historian.

At mid-morning, Their Majesties attended a reception with the Spanish community resident in Cuba at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater.
The Queen Letizia wore new Nina Ricci mint embellished plissé-silk midi dress. She accessorised her look with matching bag and Laura cross strap suede pumps.

Her Majesty also wore her Yanes sunburst white gold and diamond earrings.

Once the reception finished, His Majesty King Felipe visited the residence of the Embassy of Spain where he had a working lunch with Spanish businessmen in Cuba.

King Felipe VI also attended the presentation of the book “500 years of the City of Havana” edited by Acción Cultural Española, with original prints by Javier Mariscal and text by Mauricio Vicent at the Spanish Embassy.

Finaly, Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a dinner for the President of Cuba and his wife Mrs. Lis Cuesta, held at the “Palacio de los Capitanes Generales” (Captain General Palace).



Queen Letizia debuted a new organza pink dress by Maje with her Steve Madden Plaza mules.
