King Felipe and Queen Letizia Arrived to Cuba
On 11 November 2019, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived at The Jose Martí International Airport in Havana, Cuba.
Their Majesties arrived late in the afternoon and were welcomed by the Spanish ambassador to Cuba, Juan Fernández Trigo, the ambassador of Cuba in Spain, Gustavo Machín, and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, among other Cuban personalities.

On Tuesday, 12 Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited the José Martí Mausoleum where King Felipe placed a crown with a ribbon with the Flag of Spain.

After the presentation of the official delegations, His Majesty the King held a meeting with the President of Cuba in which he signed in front of the Stained Glass window “The Sun of America”, an agreement “Country Association Framework”, in which were present the acting minister, Josep Borrell and on the Cuban side the interim Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Antonio Carricarte.

Meanwhile, Queen Letizia went to the Old Square, where accompanied by Mrs. Lis Cuesta visited “Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos” School.

The School was established on April 6, 1992, following an agreement signed between the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana.

In the afternoon, King Felipe and Queen Letizia had the opportunity to walk the streets of Old Havana.

Next, they entered the Marquis de Arcos Palace, from the mid-18th century, which houses the Literary Artistic Lyceum.
