IMPERIAL FAMILY OF JAPAN CELEBRATED NEW YEAR 2021 WITH VIDEO MESSAGE AND SMALL RECEPTION

Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako released New Year’s Video Message on January 1, 2021. It replaced the New Year’s written message and general public greetings on the balcony of the Tokyo Imperial Palace.



The video was recorded on December 28, 2020 at the Akasaka residence. During the message Emperor Naruhito thanks medical staff for battling the coronavirus pandemic. Their Majesties sincerely hoped that the people would help and support each other and move forward.



Japanese Imperial Household Agency also released new official photos of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, taken with their daughter Princess Aiko. Along with photos of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, as well as Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko with their children Princess Mako, Princess Kako and Prince Hisahito.

Each family took photos separately in their own residences due to Coronavirus outbreak.



Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and Members of the Imperial Family attended a small 2021 New Year’s Reception on January 1st at the Imperial Palace.

Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako received New Year wishes from the Imperial Family and the cabinet.

Empress Masako and ladies of the Imperial Family did not wear tiaras in consideration of people’s struggles amid the coronavirus pandemic. More images HERE.
