For decades, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe has celebrated Easter at Marselisborg Palace in the southern part of Aarhus. In the early 1970s, The Queen and her husband, the late, Prince Henrik started a tradition of painting Easter eggs with their children Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim.

The Queen has stuck to the tradition and continues to paint eggs every year in the days leading up to Easter.

Queen Margrethe Attended Easter Service

Today is Easter Day, and on that occasion, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe attended the Easter Mass at the Aarhus Cathedral (Danish: Aarhus Domkirke), where the royal confessor and bishop of Aarhus Diocese, Henrik Wigh-Poulsen, was in charge of the service.

Due to the current restrictions, the Easter Mass lasted only 30 minutes. In addition, there was no communion or common hymn singing. Instead, it was the Cathedral Choir (Danish: Domkirkens kantori) that performed Easter hymns. ⁣
