HAAKON AND METTE MARIT OF NORWAY OPENED THE RED CROSS EASTER PREPAREDNESS

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway opened the Red Cross’ Easter preparedness on March 25, 2021. The opening took place digitally at Semsvannet, a lake in Asker municipality. 

During the opening, Crown Prince Haakon said: “The work that the volunteers do – both now at Easter and all year round – is incredibly important”.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit is patron of the Norwegian Red Cross (Norwegian: Norges Røde Kors) as well as several other philanthropic organizations.

The Crown Prince and Crown Princess also sent a thank you and a wish for a happy – and calm – Easter to the many volunteers who followed the opening ceremony via computer screens and mobile phones across the country.

The Norwegian Red Cross (Norwegian: Norges Røde Kors) was founded on 22 September 1865 by prime minister Frederik Stang.

Røde Kors now has 150,000 members and provides a variety of humanitarian services, including care for old and the infirm, prisoner visits, outdoor rescue, and international work.
