
HAAKON AND METTE-MARIT VISIT GERMANY
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit are visiting Germany from October 11 to October 16.
This year, Norway is the Guest of Honour for the Frankfurt Book Fair (The Frankfurter Buchmesse) the world’s largest trade fair for books.
The Crown Princess has taken on the role of ambassador for Norwegian literature in the international arena.
Friday 11 October: Munch and Knausgård (Düsseldorf)
Crown Princess Mette-Marit joined by Crown Prince Haakon opened a exhibition featuring the art of Norwegian painter Edvard Munch in Düsseldorf: “Edvard Munch gesehen von Karl Ove Knausgård” (“Edvard Munch – seen by Karl Ove Knausgård”).

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited the Nordic Book Shop Pankebuch in Berlin.
The bookstore is located in Pankow, in the north of Berlin, and specialises in books from the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Sunday 13 October: The Anthology “Hjemlandet” (Berlin)
Crown Princess Mette-Marit was a guest in the programme “Die Literaturagenten” on Radioens at the Großer Sendesaal of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) in Berlin.
The Crown Princess was joined by her husband Crown Prince Haakon.

Monday 14 – Tuesday 15 – Literary train tour (Berlin – Cologne – Frankfurt)
Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon embarked on a literary train tour in Germany. An entire train filled with Norwegian literature and Norwegian authors traveled through Germany to promote an interest in reading and in Norwegian literature.
The first stage of the trip was from Berlin to Cologne and the second part was from Cologne to Frankfurt, arriving at Frankfurt Main Train Station with a large delegation of Norwegian authors well before the opening of the Book Fair on October 15, 2019.

Tuesday 15 October: Opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended at the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2019. This year Norway has been selected as the Guest of Honour.
The Royal Couple was welcomed by Juergen Boos, the President of the Book Fair, and Heinrich Riethmüller, chair of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association.
