Crown Princess Victoria Arctic Circle Conference


From 10 to 11 October, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visited Iceland and attended the Arctic Circle Conference.

Marine and Freshwater Research Institute of Iceland (MFRI)

First, The Crown Princess visited Hafrannsoknastofnunin (HAFRA), the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute of Iceland, known as MFRI.

She was Welcomed by Sigurdur Gudjonsson, Director of Marine and Freshwater Research Institute.

The Institute

“Marine and Freshwater Research Institute (MFRI) is a government institute under the auspices of the Ministry of Industries and Innovation. The institute employs around 190 staff, operates 2 research vessels and 10 branches around the country, including an aquaculture experimental station. MFRI conducts various marine and freshwater research and provides the Ministry with scientific advice based on its research on marine and freshwater resources and the environment”.

Swedish Ambassador’s Residence

Victoria also visited the Residence of the Swedish Ambassador to Reykjavik, Håkan Juholt, where she met with staff and received information on current issues in which the embassy is working.

The Ambassador’s residence occupies a villa in the city. It was designed by architect Gudjon Samúelsson and built in 1924.

Crown Princess Victoria wore blue Rodebjer suit. She carried two bags, the Lexington Company Willow Tote and blue Valentino Rockstud.

She accessorized her look with Kreuger Jewellery Amiral Pearl Earring and Carl Edmond watch.

Arctic Circle Assembly

Crown Princess Victoria attended the Arctic Circle Assembly, the largest international conference on the Arctic with more than 2,000 participants from 60 countries.

The Arctic Circle Assembly is held every October at Harpa Conference Center and Concert Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland.

After a meeting with Ólafur Ragnar Grimson, former President of Iceland and founded of The Arctic Circle organization, The Crown Princess gave a speech to the participants:

“I believe that we in the Nordic family – Iceland, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden – are in an excellent position to contribute with the best of our knowledge, ideas and new solutions. It is my hope that the Nordic countries together can be a driving force for a sustainable and peaceful development in the Arctic region”.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a printed midi dress by Dolce & Gabbana, Cravingfor Jewellery Baroque Pearl Earrings, Hunkydory Clutch and Gianvito Rossi pumps.

Dinner at Swedish Ambassador’s Residence

In the evening Crown Princess Victoria attended a dinner at the residence of the Swedish Ambassador in Fjólugata, Reykjavik. She met with influential young people aged 22-35

Crown Princess opted for a dress from H&M Conscious Collection, Valentino Rockstud Clutch and black Gianvito Rossi pumps.
