On April 27th, Crown Princess Victoria took part in the “Nobel Prize Summit 2021: Our Planet, Our Future” at the Aula Magna of the Stockholm University (Swedish: Stockholms Universitet).
The first-ever Nobel Prize Summit explored the question: What can be achieved in this decade to put the world on a path to a more sustainable, more prosperous future for all of humanity?
The Nobel Prize Summit was hosted by the Nobel Foundation and organised by the US National Academy of Sciences in partnership with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the Stockholm Resilience Centre.
Sir David Attenborough, Brian Schmidt, Jennifer Doudna, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Elizabeth Blackburn, Saul Perlmutter and Peter Doherty also took part in the event.
The program was broadcast live on the internet and The Crown Princess gave a speech:
”We are now at a moment in time where humanity has become the dominant force of change on planet Earth – causing increasing turbulence in our biosphere. That can be a frightening thought.
However, we can also choose to see it from the opposite angle: humankind is at the steering wheel of our planet. We have science. We have technology. We have an interconnected global economy. And that means we have a choice.”Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden
