Princess Ingrid Alexandra Confrimation


On August 31, Norway’s Princess Ingrid Alexandra was confirmed into the Norwegian Protestant Church. The ceremony took place in The Palace Chapel at the Royal Palace in Oslo.

Ingrid Alexandra received her confirmation instruction with Asker Church congregation under the direction of Provost Tor Oystein Vaaland and acting Vicar Karoline Astrup.

The Norwegian Royal Family and relatives attended the ceremony, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Prince Sverre Magnus, Marius Borg Hoiby, Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner, Princess Martha Louise and daughters Maud, Leah and Emma Behn.

The confirmation service was performed by Kari Veiteberg, Bishop of Oslo, and Bishop Helga Haugland Byfuglien.

All the Princess’ godparents: Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, King Felipe of Spain, Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, King Harald and Ms Marit Tjessem (Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s mother) attended the confirmation.

Princess Ingrid’s godparents and members of the Norwegian Royal Family lit candles for the Confirmation during the service.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was joined by his wife Crown Princess Mary and their older son Prince Christian.

Ingrid Alexandra wore a new bunad, a gift from her grandparents King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway. Ingrid’s bunad is from Aust-Telemark, a traditional district in the county of Telemark in Norway.

King Harald and Queen Sonja Hosted Official Lunch

After the ceremony King Harald and Queen Sonja hosted an Official Luncheon at the Royal Palace.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway born on 21 January 2004 is the elder child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. She is second in line to succeed her grandfather King Harald V.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra Celebration Dinner

In the night, the Princess’ Confirmation was celebrated with a dinner for family and friends at Skaugum.

Skaugum is an estate, manor house and the official residence of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The estate is located in Asker municipality.
